ST. LOUIS – As temperatures take a dip this weekend, fans should expect chilly weather for City SC’s home opener and block party.

Saturday’s block party is free and open to the public. City SC Chief Experience Office, Matt Sebek, announced the music experience, “Homegrown,” in collaboration with St. Louis native Smino, who will be performing.

Matt said the music strategy this year supports the belief of St. Louis being an amazing place to start up, stand out, and stay.

“To be able to bring those principles into a fan experience that you’ve heard about, you’ve read about, perhaps you’ve participated in it. That fan experience is one that is unapologetically St. Louis. We believe we are creating a bit of a new language built on pride and passion. Not just for soccer fans but for the region,” Sebek said.

The block party will take place on Lou Fusz Plaza Saturday at 4 p.m. before kickoff against Real Salt Lake at 7:30 p.m.

FOX 2 spent some of the afternoon outside of the City SC store and spoke with some fans. There’s a lot of excitement for the big day.

“I’m super pumped. I love everything St. Louis and I’m excited to kick off another good year. Just the environment that it brings. It brings the whole city together. A lot of fun and a lot of entertainment,” Dylan Myers, soccer fan, said.

No ticket is needed to attend the block party. Food, drinks, games and giveaways will be there for everyone. A watch party on the plaza will follow for fans without a ticket to the game.
