(KTVI)  Forty percent of high school students say they experience feelings of sadness and hopelessness.

That’s a slight drop – 2% – from 2021 to 2023, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The CDC surveys teens and mental health every two years– with their latest study shining a light on how teens fared during and after the height of the pandemic.

The CDC also illuminated concerns students expressed about violence either at or en route to school.

Fox 2’s Jasmine Huda spoke with CHADS Coalition Executive Director about the improvements and declines shown in the study, and how parents and schools can best help teens, as they return to school.
