ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man working for a medical equipment business used a company card and spent tens of thousands of dollars on gasoline on non-company vehicles over a 10-month period.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft took place from Sept. 28, 2022, to July 7, 2023.
Police said Anton C. Garvin (age not provided), an employee at US Med-Equip, took one of the company’s business credit cards used to purchase gas. US Med-Equip rents, sells, and services medical equipment to nearly 5,800 hospitals across the country.
Garvin used the card to purchase gasoline for other individuals with non-company cars, investigators said. All told, Garvin spent $52,060.82 on gas.
Police said Garvin admitted taking the credit card after business hours and using it to purchase gas for others.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Garvin with stealing – $25,000 or more. Garvin was issued a criminal summons to appear in court on September 23.
