Emergency landing: Flight bound for Sacramento returns to St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis flight bound for Sacramento, California, made an emergency landing Friday afternoon shortly after the plane took off.

Sources tell FOX 2 that the plane had 175 people onboard and that the plane made a safe emergency landing around 4 p.m. Friday.

FOX 2 has learned the plane that made the landing is a Boeing 737-800 model. Southwest Airlines was using the plane for a flight from St. Louis to Sacramento.

It’s unclear what may have led up to the emergency landing. The plane was briefly in the air before it landed and returned back to Lambert Airport. It’s unclear how much time passed between the takeoff and the landing.

No injuries have been reported from this situation.
