ST. LOUIS – An accused burglar has been charged with a copper theft at an electrical supply warehouse this past spring.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft happened on March 24 at Metro Electric Supply on Hoffman Avenue.

Police said security video shows Robert A. Sneed, 32, peeling back the rear sheet metal wall of the warehouse before leaving the area. Approximately two hours later, Sneed returns with two other people in a red Kia. The trio uses bolt cutters to open the overhead garage door.

Sneed and the others stole more than $4,000 worth of copper before driving away, police said.

A cellphone was found inside the warehouse, which belonged to Sneed, police said. In addition, Sneed was seen wearing a distinct gray Russian fur hat on the surveillance video. That hat is believed to be the same hat Sneed is wearing in a photo on his Facebook profile.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Sneed with first-degree property damage, stealing – $750, and two counts of second-degree burglary.
