ST. LOUIS — Starting Tuesday, many area voters can cast absentee ballots without needing an excuse for the August 6 primary election. No-excuse voting will be available for two weeks before Election Day.
Voters should visit the absentee polling location, show their ID, fill out their ballot, and cast their vote. Voters can vote early at six locations in St. Louis City. St. Louis County voters have 14 locations. There are two places to vote in St. Charles County and one in Jefferson County.
For many years, the state of Missouri allowed absentee voting only for specific reasons, such as being out of the country on election day, illness, or physical disability. The state has not adopted a widespread “no-excuse” mail-in voting system. But, there are systems in place in the St. Louis area.
Absentee by mail applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on July 24. More information is available on the St. Louis County Board of Election’s website.
