ST. LOUIS — Scattered showers are impacting the region this morning. These showers look to mostly dissipate by midmorning, but then scattered storms will develop this afternoon ahead of a cold front.
We could see a few more showers and storms in the metro shortly after midday, but the better chance for strong storms is still to the east or southeast of the metro later this afternoon. The severe threat looks isolated and hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph are the main concerns. Today’s highs will be near 70, with gusty winds and a decrease in cloud cover this afternoon. We are also watching for elevated fire danger over parts of Missouri this afternoon.
Monday will be dry and warmer for the eclipse, but we are expecting an increase in high cirrus clouds through the afternoon. There is still some uncertainty about the extent of coverage of these clouds and their thickness but viewing is looking okay as of now.
Since Monday, our weather has looked more unsettled, with a few rounds of rain Monday night through Thursday.
