ST. LOUIS – The landlord of the downtown dog bar, Bar K, filed a lawsuit claiming the dog park and bar has not paid almost $300,000 in rent.

The St. Louis developer and landlord, Green Street, filed the lawsuit last week against the event space. Bar K is located at 4565 McRee Avenue in the city’s Forest Park Southwest neighborhood.

The lawsuit claims Green Street sent Bar K a notice in January for failure to pay $145,241 in rent, but the dog bar failed to pay.

The developer sent an additional notice in August for failure to pay rent totaling $298,564, the lawsuit said.

According to the lawsuit, Bar K entered the lease agreement in March 2020 and was intended to run for 15 years.

According to our partners at the Post-Dispatch, Green Street’s headquarters is located on the same property as Bar K, and city records show the developer owes $130,498 in real estate taxes on the property in 2022 and $201,562 in 2023.

Bar K features two outdoor bars, one indoor bar, live music, a 10,000-square-foot indoor park, and a 2-acre outdoor park for dogs.

A court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1
