ST. LOUIS – Authorities are investigating allegations after a sheriff’s deputy has been accused of misconduct with an inmate at the St. Louis Justice Center.

St. Louis City Sheriff Alfred Montgomery told FOX 2 on Saturday that he is aware of allegations of a former deputy being involved in misconduct with an inmate, but he declined to comment further on the investigation.

According to FOX 2’s news partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the allegations, which surfaced on Friday, involved claims of illegal sexual conduct between a deputy and a detainee at the St. Louis Justice Center, while the deputy in question is no longer employed.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department also sent this statement to FOX 2 on Friday following the allegations: “The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is aware of a potential incident today at the City Justice Center. We have no comment at this time.”

Additional details are limited at this time. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
