ST. LOUIS – The Dense Urban Training Exercise Event has concluded downtown.

If you saw some 600 men and women in uniform, it was for no concern as it was all just a drill.

The event welcomed U.S. Army National Guard units from several states to project and simulate a mass disaster. Training included simulating a train derailment, a chemical leak, and bridge collapses.

Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX flew over the river, where units were demonstrating a simulation of an 8.4-magnitude earthquake that destroyed a temporary bridge across the water.

The East West Gateway Council of Government’s Starr Program also invited groups to participate and learn each other’s logistics.

Gear was packed up Wednesday to travel and host another disaster preparedness drill. The training had a successful outcome with a better understanding of potential disasters.
