ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A De Soto, Missouri, man died Wednesday morning in a crash involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 55 in south St. Louis County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, the crash happened just after 8:50 a.m., just south of Butler Hill Road.
The highway patrol said the driver of a 2016 International tractor trailer noticed traffic ahead and attempted to slow down. The front end of a 2000 Ford F-450 struck the back of the tractor trailer’s towed unit. Debris from the F-450 struck a 2014 Honda CRV.
The drivers of both the tractor trailer and the CRV were uninjured.
The driver of the F-450, Jimmy-Jack Johnston, was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital South just after 9:45 a.m. Johnston was 39.
