Dangerous heat continues ahead of cold front bringing storms, cooler temperatures

Another dangerously hot day Monday with highs near 100 and heat index values 105–110. The heat advisory remains in place through 8 p.m.

While our forecast has been for rain chances to increase late Tuesday, many of our recent model runs are now hinting at a complex of storms dropping south across at least part of the region overnight into Tuesday morning.

This is something that we’ll have to watch and it brings some uncertainty to our forecast. If this scenario were to play out, we could have lingering clouds and showers into more of Tuesday, and that could hinder our warm-up.

For now, highs are in the low 90s on Tuesday but with very humid conditions, it’ll likely feel closer to 100. Storm chances continue late Tuesday through Wednesday.

Behind this cold front, temperatures will only be in the low 80s for the second half of the work week and through the weekend.
