ST. PETERS, Mo. – Missouri shoppers in St. Peters were at Mid Rivers Mall on Friday looking for deals as the annual back-to-school sales tax holiday weekend kicked off.

“Anytime you can save anything is alright with me for any reason because everything has gone up,” Joy Dowey said. “So, we looked for a good deal and I think we got one.”

The annual three-day tax-free weekend begins on the first Friday in August.

“I just got lucky, I guess, when I came in,” Justin Stafford said. “I came in to get my parents a computer and I saved on the taxes today.”

Customers can shop tax-free for certain items up until midnight Sunday.

The Missouri Department of Revenue has an entire list of what qualifies and what doesn’t.
