ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A woman deemed to be a “critical missing person” from Texas and another man who allegedly drove her died Friday evening after a rollover crash and gunfire followed a pursuit in south St. Louis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the two people who died as Ryan D. Phillips, 33, of St. Louis, and Delisha D. Evans, 30, of Princeton, Texas.

According to a press release from the Princeton Police Department, Evans was entered into both Texas state’s database and a national database as a “critical missing person” early Friday morning.

Around 4 p.m. Friday, the Texas Department of Public Safety then contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol to report Phillips was believed to be heading to the St. Louis area with Evans in a red Range Rover vehicle. Texas authorities also told MSHP that they had concerns for Evans’ safety.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, around 5:30 p.m. Friday, troopers spotted the suspected vehicle traveling on Interstate 44 near Missouri Route 141. Troopers then attempted to pull over the vehicle, which led to a pursuit that ended near Rock Hill Road and Pardee Road.

Investigators say Phillips was driving when the vehicle rolled over and stopped.

Cpl. Logan Bolton, Missouri State Highway Patrol, tells FOX 2 that some shots were fired from a trooper. While investigating, troopers recovered a firearm next to the vehicle after it had crash. MSHP did not confirm whether anyone else had fired shots.

While responding to the scene of the crash, troopers found two people, later identified as Phillips and Evans, deceased inside the vehicle.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has not disclosed the cause of death for either Phillips or Evans.
