Crews respond to building collapse in south St. Louis, search efforts underway

ST. LOUIS – Crews with the St. Louis Fire Department have responded to a building collapse Friday afternoon in south St. Louis.

Investigators say a three-story apartment complex in the 3900 block of South Grand Boulevard collapsed. The St. Louis Fire Department shared a video of the damage on X (formerly Twitter) just after 3 p.m. Friday.

The structure is considered a vacant property, but crews are checking to see if there were any potential occupants at the time of the collapse.


Mail disruptions reported in O’Fallon, Mo

A St. Louis Fire Department K-9 Armour Unit and other first responders are checking the building. Crews from Ameren, Spire and the St. Louis Water Department are also assisting at the scene.

There were no reported injuries from outside the building at the time of the collapse.
