ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The chair of the St. Louis County Council is working on a bill that would give the council control over “all public safety functions” in the county, including in municipalities.

In her request, Chair Shalonda Webb says the goal is to provide “uniform public safety” countywide. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, it comes after a new law was passed that cracks down on the open carrying of firearms but only in unincorporated parts of St. Louis County.

Webb helped to work on it. If the ‘Charter Amendment’ is approved, people in St. Louis County will vote on it.
