ST. LOUIS – One corrections officer and four inmates are hospitalized after a disturbance Wednesday afternoon at the St. Louis Justice Center.

Investigators tell FOX 2 that four inmates were hurt after the disturbance escalated to a physical altercation. Those inmates were hospitalized with various injuries.

The corrections officer was also sent to a hospital for medical evaluation, though for an issue believed to be unrelated to the disturbance.

FOX 2 is working to confirm reports that the inmates may have been stabbed. Investigators have not yet determined if that was the case or other details around how the inmates were injured. No suspect information is yet available either.

Emergency crews responded to the Justice Center around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday after reports of the disturbance.

This is a developing story. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
