Cold front brings cooler temperatures, sunny skies to the region

ST. LOUIS — A cold front has moved through our area and has exited to the southeast. Cooler air is filtering in behind the front, along with brisk northwest winds. We still have some clouds overhead but these should clear this morning, leaving us with plenty of sunshine for the afternoon.

Despite ample sunshine, highs will only be in the upper 40s, near normal for this time of year. Clear skies continue through tonight.

We’ll see temperatures rebound to the low 70s on Sunday with lots of sunshine. Due to warm, dry, and breezy conditions, expect high fire danger Sunday and potentially into the next work week as well.

Near-record warmth Monday and Tuesday as temperatures soar well into the 70s and, on Tuesday, near 80. Well above normal temperatures and moisture on Tuesday could set the stage for strong storms Tuesday evening or night as a strong front drops into the region.

This being said, there are still some things that could limit thunderstorm development and the location of storms. Behind the front, arctic air returns to the region briefly.

Temperatures will drop into the 30s Tuesday night, with highs on Wednesday in the low 40s. The cooldown will once again be short, with temperatures rebounding into the 50s by Thursday.
