FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A man admitted to breaking into a Franklin County post office twice and stealing packages while wearing a clown mask.

Scott Weatherby, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary of a post office during a federal court hearing on Wednesday.

Investigators say Weatherby targeted a U.S. Post Office location in St. Albans on back-to-back days last August. Weatherby wore a clown mask as he stole various packages from the post office.

Authorities later identified Weatherby as a suspect and arrested him in Pacific, Missouri. Police found a clown mask and several stolen packages in his vehicle.

Weatherby is expected to be sentenced on May 7. He could up to five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines for each charge.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service teamed up with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the case.
