Charges issued for shooting near Halls Ferry Road and Empire Drive

ST. LOUIS COUNTY–Charges have been issued for first-degree assault in the shooting that took place on Tuesday, May 14, near Halls Ferry Road and Empire Drive.

The suspect, 51-year-old, Michael Morrison, is being charged for assault first degree, two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Morrison is being held on $500,000 cash bond only.

At around 8 a.m. on May 14, police responded to a call for the shooting. When they arrived the victim was still on the scene.

The victim told authorities Morrison was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado and had shot him while driving parallel to each other in a construction zone. The victim was taken to the hospital to undergo life-saving surgery for a gunshot wound and bullet damage to his upper body.

Officers traced the license plate of the truck to Morrison. After executing a search warrant at Morrison’s home, officers located three firearms in his bedroom.

One of the firearms has the same caliber of shell casings recovered at the shooting scene.

St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives are leading this investigation.
