ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Breckenridge Hills man has been ordered to appear in court next month after being shot while breaking into another man’s apartment this past spring.

According to the Breckenridge Hills Police Department’s probable cause statement, the break-in occurred on May 16, 2024, at an apartment complex in the 9800 block of Le Coeur Court.

Police arrived to find Martin Thiongo (age not provided) suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg on the bedroom floor of an apartment.

Investigators learned Thiongo, who also lives in the complex, forced his way into the apartment and pursued the tenant to the bedroom.

Thiongo allegedly said he’d planned to kill the man in the apartment.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Thiongo with first-degree burglary. Thiongo was issued a criminal summons to appear in court on March 18.
