ST. LOUIS – A 27-year-old man remains jailed without bond in connection with a fatal shooting last month in north St. Louis.
According to Sgt. Charles Wall, a spokesman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the 5500 Page Boulevard, which is located on the border of the Hamilton Heights and West End neighborhoods.
Officers found the victim, Michael Rice, near the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his stomach. Rice was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 27.
Police claim that homicide detectives determined Lavell Nunley was responsible for Rice’s death. Nunley was arrested on Wednesday.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Nunley on Thursday with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of armed criminal action.
