ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Pagedale man is accused of a hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist over the weekend.

According to Sgt. Tracy Panus, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis County Police Department, the crash happened just after 5:50 p.m. Sunday on South Lindbergh Boulevard near Flori Drive.

Police said Michael Bartholomew of Arnold was traveling northbound on Lindbergh when he was involved in a collision with an SUV. The SUV left the scene.

Bartholomew was rushed to Mercy Hospital, where he died of his injuries. He was 41.

Around 7:30 p.m., Tony Artice Jr., 37, arrived at the lobby of a county police precinct and reported that he’d been driving the SUV that struck Bartholomew, police said.

Officers later found the SUV in the 5100 block of Maple Avenue in St. Louis City. The vehicle was registered to Artice and had damage consistent with the hit-and-run.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Artice with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Artice is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
