Charges filed in 2022 Mt. Pleasant murder

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man will make his first appearance in court on Monday in connection with a 2022 murder in south city.

Last week, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Joshua D. Jackson, 32, with first-degree murder, tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. The court issued an arrest warrant, which was served on Sunday, March 3.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the murder occurred on Jan. 29, 2022, in the 2800 block of Chariton Street, located in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.

Police and prosecutors claim Jackson shot Jeffrey Cook inside Cook’s home during an argument. Officers found Cook inside the residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Cook was rushed to the hospital, but died. He was 60.

An eyewitness told police Jackson threatened to harm them and their children if they spoke with the police.
