FERGUSON, Mo. – At least five people have been charged in connection with protests outside the Ferguson Police Department commemorating the 10th anniversary of Michael Brown Jr.’s death, after one police officer was critically injured while attempting to arrest a protester.

The protests and confrontation happened on the evening of August 9 in the 200 block of South Florissant Road.

Police said Officer Travis Brown was part of an arrest team dispatched just before 11:50 p.m. to detain protesters who broke the police station security gate.
