Cahokia Heights man arrested after fatal hit-and-run

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation arrested a Cahokia Heights man after failing to report an accident involving death.

On Jan. 27, the East St. Louis Police Department notified the ISP of a pedestrian-involved hit-and-run investigation at Market Avenue and Eighth Street in East St. Louis, according to the Illinois State Police.

Mario M. Poster, 42, was found and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified Jamaal A. McCray, 47, as a person of interest and took him into custody on Jan. 30.

Charges were filed against McCray on Feb. 1.

No further information has been provided.
