ST. LOUIS – It’s not every day someone celebrates 50 years of working one job, but its happening Tuesday for a Metrobus operator.

Bruce Williams began his career as a metrobus driver back in 1974. He was just 23 years old. He is celebrating 50 years in the workforce on Tuesday, and when he arrived at the North County Transit Center, his coworkers, including his wife and executives, welcomed him and cheered him on from Metro Transit.

He lives by the mantra, “It’s not a job if you enjoy what you’re doing.”

His colleagues, family, friends, and loyal riders are all celebrating his 50-year anniversary. He currently drives the number 78 Bellefontaine metrobus route daily. It goes between the North County Transit Center and the Riverview Center five times.

However, Bruce’s legacy is not limited to his career. We also have a love story for you this Tuesday morning. Bruce met his wife, Felicia, at work. She’s also a Metro bus operator.

She’s riding the bus with him Tuesday as well, along his route. That was a surprise to him too. and Bruce’s dedication to his community shines through every day. FOX 2 caught up with both of them Tuesday morning.

“I enjoy helping people and I see this as a public service job,” Bruce explained. “I mean, people need transportation. They need the buses. So, you know, I mean, it’s rewarding just to be able to give; when you give, you get.”

“He’s just a great person, you know, a family man, and the way he’s at work is the same way he’s at home and he’s just a loving person,” his wife Felicia expressed.
