Broadway star and St. Louis native Ken Page dies

ST. LOUIS – Broadway and the city of St. Louis are mourning the loss of a star as
musical theatre actor and St. Louis native Ken Page died Monday.

Longtime friend and producer Dorian Hannaway announced the heartbreaking news on social media. Page was still active on the stage this past summer as he appeared in the Muny’s production of Les Misérables.

Page was best known for his role as the lion in the hit musical “The Wiz” and voicing Oogie Boogie in the classic animated movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Page was born and raised in St. Louis and graduated from Bishop Dubourg High School. Page attended Fontbonne College in Clayton, majoring in theater on a full scholarship. Ken Page was 70 years old at the time of his passing.
