ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A Bridgeton woman has been identified as the victim of Wednesday’s fatal crash on Interstate 70 near Wentzville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened around 12:10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-70 just past Route A.

A 2022 Freightliner Cascadia was traveling in lane 2, while a 2011 Ford Mustang was in lane 3. The highway patrol claims the driver of the semi truck changed lanes when it was unsafe to do so and struck the rear left side of the Mustang.

Both the semi truck and the Mustang went off the road and into the retaining wall. A passenger in the Mustang was ejected from the vehicle and killed. The passenger was later identified as Christine Schneider. She was 61.

Schneider was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the highway patrol.
