ST. LOUIS — It was a bit breezy and much warmer today, with highs climbing into the low 70s. We will have elevated fire danger once again today.

It won’t be too breezy but we still have low humidity and dry vegetation. Breezy and warmer for Monday, with highs in the upper 70s. Elevated fire danger continues.

Temperatures peak around 80 on Tuesday, with winds ramping up even more through the day ahead of our next system. This cold front brings the threat of strong to severe storms Tuesday night.

Right now, many of the ingredients look to be in place, but a few key questions still remain, such as how long our atmosphere stays capped as well as the exact timing of the cold front. If the cold front arrives earlier, instability will be greater.

If it’s later, we’ll have less instability to work with. Despite the extent of thunderstorm activity, this strong front will bring a big drop in temperatures. Highs on Wednesday in St. Louis will likely only be in the mid-40s. Temperatures rebounded to the 50s by Friday and the 60s by Saturday.

There is a possible record warmth and elevated fire danger ahead of the storm threat late Tuesday.
