Break-in at St. Louis cell tower causes major damage, theft

ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating a break-in at a cell phone tower in south St. Louis, with thieves taking electrical components and leaving significant damage at the scene.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening on the 7300 block of South Grand in south St. Louis, near Carondelet Park. Police say the thieves cut through a chain link fence to access the cell phone tower.

Police are currently investigating the incident. Officials say the thieves stole various electrical components and caused damage exceeding $15,000.
