STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY, Mo. – Earlier this month, a man’s body was recovered from the Mississippi River in Ste. Genevieve County. On Monday, county authorities identified the individual as a St. Louis man.
According to Major Jason Schott, chief deputy of the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office, employees from the Tower Rock Stone quarry saw a body floating in the river around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. The workers pulled the body from the river and brought it to Little Rock Landing.
The sheriff’s office and county coroner retrieved the body for an autopsy.

The body was identified as Darris C. Moore of St. Louis. Moore was 23.
Investigators believe Moore’s body was in the river for between one and two weeks.
A cause of death was not revealed.
