ST. LOUIS – Calvin Riley is visiting the Missouri History Musuem Tuesday to take you through the colorful and history-filled pages of his illustrated book, ‘Black St. Louis.’
He knows his stuff when it comes to St. Louis. His 40-year collection of artifacts went into opening the George B. Vashon Museum of African American History. Well, Tuesday he is discussing his book, which features stories from the Union Army veteran who fought for civil rights to John Berry Meachum, an ex-slave who founded the first African Baptist church. He also touches on the magic of Annie Malone, who built a business to enrich black people and open doors to opportunity.
The book covers more than 250 years of history. You can pick Calvin Riley’s brain Tuesday at the Missouri History Museum at 11:00 a.m.
