MONROE COUNTY, Ill. – A bear sighting was caught on camera in rural Columbia, Illinois.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department posted the bear sighting on Facebook on Sunday.
The Sheriff’s Department reminds people that if you encounter a bear, stay calm and back away slowly, but if the bear approaches, make yourself appear as large as possible.
It also reminds you not to approach bears under any circumstances and to report any sightings to authorities immediately.
