Arrest made in Ferguson homicide; victim identified

FERGUSON, Mo. – Ferguson police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting Saturday afternoon that left one man dead.

According to Patricia Washington, a city spokeswoman, officers received a ShotSpotter alert at Forestwood Sports Complex around 4:30 p.m. Several 911 calls also came in to report a shooting at that location.

Officers arrived to find the victim, Darryl Allen Shannon, shot to death in the parking lot. Shannon was 47.

On Sunday afternoon, Washington said police took a person of interest into custody, and have referred the case to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
