ST. LOUIS – The Archdiocese of St. Louis has announced relocation plans for St. Louis Catholic Academy after the current academic school year.

St. Louis Catholic Academy will move to the former campus of La Salle Charter School, located at 1106 North Jefferson Avenue in the Carr Square neighborhood.

The Archdiocese says the property has a rich Catholic history. St. Bridget of Erin parish was established on the site in 1853. It was also the grounds of a Catholic community school from 1970 to 2012.

“This building will provide a viable, turnkey setting in which the Archdiocese of St. Louis can deliver state-of-the-art, quality education in a renovated space that has a long legacy of Catholic education,” said the Archdiocese in a news release.

In addition to this decision, the Archdiocese of St. Louis is planning to close two elementary schools after the 2023-24 school year. FOX 2 first learned of the possibility of school closures late last year due to low enrollment and budgeting challenges.

The changes come as the Archdiocese also launched an “All Things New” plan last year to consolidate 178 individual parishes into 134 parishes.
