ST. LOUIS – A grassroots advocacy group, the St. Louis Urbanists, will be gathering locals on Sunday to build and paint benches needed at St. Louis bus stops.

“Bench Painting and BBQ” is open to anyone and will be located at the Cypress North Pavilion in Tower Grover Park on October 6 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

According to St. Louis Urbanists, there are over 4000 bus stops in the area without a bench, and the group aims to build 30 more benches to add to these stops around St. Louis. Locals are asked to RSVP on their website.

Their mission as a group is to promote better urban design and effective infrastructure for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders and drivers.
