A Belleville woman’s struggle with her Maytag washing machine

BELLEVILLE, Il. – Inside Donna Brown’s Belleville home, every load of laundry sounded like a locomotive.

Brown said her Maytag washing machine purchased from Lowe’s has rattled since it was installed last April.

“They were not gone a half hour when I called the two guys that delivered it. I said, ‘You’ve got to come back.’ I said it’s not balanced. Of course, they never came back,” she said.

But when repair crews have come to fix it, she said they can’t figure out the problem.

“They have replaced the drum once or twice. They’ve replaced the shocks. They’ve adjusted the legs,” Brown said.

According to her, the washing machine shakes so intensely that it will move away from the wall.

“I had a girlfriend come down and she pushed it back for me once. And she said, ‘Donna, how do you do this?’ I said, ‘I have no choice,’

I just wiggle back and forth and push. I put my back up against it. I put my hands on the wall and I just push. And I just work from side to side,” she said.

Brown said last month she had had enough.

After speaking with Brown, FOX 2 contacted Lowe’s about Donna’s washing machine. It wasn’t long before the company reached out to her.

“I have a new machine now, and so far it’s not walking into the kitchen anymore, (so) that’s good,” she said.

Lowe’s sent a crew out to install a new washing machine for Brown.

“The satisfaction of our customers is our top priority. We have worked directly with Donna Brown to address her concerns, and we are pleased that the issue has been resolved to her satisfaction,” Lowe’s said in a statement.
