FENTON, Mo. – Pickleball with a Purpose drew a big crowd at the Missouri Pickleball Club in Fenton over the weekend. The event raised awareness and money for the Kendall Johnson Foundation.

Kendall Johnson died suddenly in July 2022. She was 15. Kendall’s mother, Michelle Taylor, started the foundation in her daughter’s memory.

Pickleball with a Purpose was the brainchild of some of Michelle’s friends, whom she plays pickleball with as a way to honor Kendall and help others. More than 100 players took part in the event. Some were experienced players, while others learned to play for the first time.

FOX 2’s Mandy Murphey served as the emcee.

Money from the entry fee, raffle prizes and donations goes toward the Kendall Johnson Foundation to financially support parents who experience the tragic loss of a child. The foundation also provides student scholarships to select sports players. Kendall played select softball. The foundation also holds a golf tournament each year.
