ST. LOUIS – The Fabulous Fox Theatre celebrated bringing 95 years of entertainment to the city Wednesday.

Some of the world’s biggest names have taken the stage. Carl Vogt, a host at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, shared his experience throughout his 41 years of employment.

“There was a different time during the 30s; this was a Fox Theatre and the Fox movie studio turned out a new film every week,” Vogt said.

A church originally occupied the building before the theatre. The $6 million Fox Theatre opened its doors on Jan. 3, 1929. Prices for a ticket then could be called unbelievable now.

“The price initially was 75 cents a night, and 55 cents if you came in before 2 o’clock,” Vogt said. “This theatre operated 12 hours a day. They dropped their price somewhat during the depression in the 30s.”

Peacock Alley in the theatre highlights the great musicians, actors, actresses and comedians that have made history on the stage since its reopening in 1982. Several citizens enjoy the grandeur of the atmosphere at the Fox.

“We love coming to the Fox. Every time we walk in, it’s just a magical, fun evening for us,” Kristine Kovarik, Fox Theatre season ticket holder, said.

It’s not only the musical fans that are amazed by the theatre architecture; it’s the employees too.

“The architecture here is just wonderful. It’s just a showcase,” Darlene Jefferson, a Fox Theatre safety team member, said. “It’s wonderful. It’s beautiful.”

There are over 15 upcoming shows coming to the stage at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. For more information or to buy tickets, click here.
