UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – Students, teachers, and staff at University City High School were placed on a brief lockdown Wednesday afternoon after the district received a security tip.
The lockdown was initiated just before 2:40 p.m.
District security officers ultimately detained a student and confiscated a weapon. The University City Police Department was dispatched to the school and took the student into custody.
Police and district security remained on campus through dismissal at 3 p.m.
No additional information has been disclosed on the nature of the possible threat posed.
