ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man who fled Missouri after being indicted for child pornography was sentenced to prison on Wednesday.

Daniel Bert, 38, faces a felony charge of transportation of child pornography.

Bert was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison and will additionally be placed on supervised release for life.

The FBI received two tips regarding Bert’s use of the app Kik Messenger to discuss sexual interest in young children. An undercover agent began sending messages to him, and in return, he sent nude pictures, admitted he had a hard drive full of pornography, and asked the agent to join an online video chat where Bert played videos of child pornography.

It was discovered that Bert possessed child sexual abuse on several devices, including laptops, phones and hard drives.

Following his indictment, Bert was placed on house arrest. He removed the GPS device and fled the state. He was later found and arrested in Florida in May.

Bert pleaded guilty to transportation of child pornography in August.
