Suspect charged in November shooting outside Enterprise Center

ST. LOUIS – Charges have been filed in connection with a shooting near the Enterprise Center last fall.

The shooting occurred on the afternoon of Nov. 14, 2023, near the intersection of South 14th Street and Clark Avenue in Downtown West, just a few hours before the St. Louis Blues were scheduled to host a game at the Enterprise Center.

St. Louis police officers found the victim with a graze wound to his head. The victim told police he and the shooter knew one another and got into an argument prior to the shooting. The victim said he was able to disarm the shooter. He was then brought to the hospital to be treated and he was eventually released.


Hostage situation at downtown Drury Hotel

Police stopped the suspected shooter, identified as Gregory Hemphill Jr., as he attempted to board a Metro bus. Police claim security at the Enterprise Center helped identify Hemphill as the shooter.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Hemphill, 34, with first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, and armed criminal action. Hemphill remains jailed without bond.
