ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – St. Louis County Council Chairwoman Shalonda Webb is withdrawing her public safety control measure.
On Monday, she proposed a bill that would give control over “all public safety functions” in the county’s 87 municipalities to the council. FOX 2’s partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that during a meeting on Tuesday. Webb says the goal wasn’t to take over police but to expand a new county law that bans teens from openly carrying guns.
50 people who were protesting the Israel-Hamas War interrupted the meeting, which resulted in one arrest. The council was forced to postpone until Friday.
