KANSAS CITY, Mo. – He’s on death row but dozens of Missouri Department of Corrections staff call him a model inmate. They are urging Governor Mike Parson to grant a stay of execution.

60 corrections officers and staff at the Potosi Correctional Center signed a letter in support of 51-year-old Brian Dorsey. He’s scheduled to die in April for murdering his cousin and her husband in 2006.

The letter says Dorsey has been respectful and is even allowed to be a barber for prisoners, officers and the warden. Dorsey’s lawyer says he was not given “effective counsel” before pleading guilty in 2006.
