3 people shot across St. Louis in 6-hour period overnight

ST. LOUIS – Two men and a woman were wounded in three separate shootings overnight across St. Louis City.

According to a spokesperson with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the first shooting happened at 12:50 a.m. in the 5500 block of West Florissant Avenue, located near Calvary Cemetery in the Walnut Park East neighborhood.

Officers were headed to that location when they saw a car speed out of a parking lot with the rear passenger door open. Police pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver, who told officers she’d been shot.

The 36-year-old victim said she was in her car in the parking lot when she heard gunfire and felt a sharp pain in her leg. Two others in the vehicle were not injured. The victim was taken to a hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

Later, officers were notified of a shooting victim at a local hospital. Police met with the victim, a 25-year-old man, who told them he was driving east on Interstate 64 near Hampton Avenue around 3 a.m. when he heard approximately five or six gunshots behind him. The driver was shot in the right elbow. Meanwhile, a white Infiniti sedan pulled ahead of the victim’s car and began to slow down. The victim exited the interstate at Hampton at the last second. The sedan continued on the interstate, and the victim drove himself to the hospital.

And finally, around 6:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Anderson Avenue in the Penrose neighborhood. Police found a man who had been shot in the chest. He was conscious and breathing at the scene. There’s been no additional information released on his condition.
