WASHINGTON COUNTY, Mo. – The Major Case Squad has released a detailed timeline on what led up to the disappearance of Donna Eye. She was found dead Wednesday, more than a week after a sheriff’s deputy dropped her off in the Mark Twain National Forest.
The Mineral Area Major Case Squad is investigating, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is reviewing the deputy’s actions. The sheriff also plans to have an independent board investigate, including the policy about giving rides to civilians.
Meanwhile, the case squad released a timeline dating back to Jan. 8 on what was reported around Eye’s disappearance.
“Due to the complexity of this investigation and the misinformation circulating specifically on social media we feel that is pertinent to release the investigative timeline of this investigation,” said the Mineral Area Major Case Squad via a news release.

The timeline indicates that Eye requested to be dropped off at Forest Service Road 2375, at the intersection of Shirley School Road around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 8. She left a patrol vehicle and a deputy returned to service just after midnight, per the timeline.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office stated Eye was missing in missing persons report on Jan. 11. The timeline notes Eye’s body was found in a search area on Wednesday afternoon.
An autopsy is scheduled Friday to determine what caused Eye’s death.
