Man killed in crash after fleeing from police in St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man is dead after fleeing from police, causing his vehicle to overturn early Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the accident occurred around midnight Wednesday night on southbound Interstate 55, just north of South Lindbergh Boulevard, involving a Lexus ES.

Officials say the driver of the Lexus, Lucas Menz, 21, fled police and began traveling at a high rate of speed before losing control of his vehicle. According to MSHP, Menz traveled off the left side of the road, which caused his vehicle to overturn. Menz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Menz was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
