Major case squad investigates fatal shooting, fiery crash in Cahokia Heights

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mo. – Multiple major case squad detectives are in Cahokia Heights Wednesday morning after an overnight murder leaves one man dead.

Everything unfolded late Tuesday night on the 5800 block of Mitchell Lane in Cahokia Heights. The scene was in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

FOX 2’s Nissan Rogue Runner, Brian Howe, was at the scene overnight when it was still active. It appeared that two vehicles had apparently been involved in some sort of crash, with one of the cars catching fire. There was a body not far from the car crash in the parking lot area.

Cahokia Heights police confirm that one man was shot to death, and the case is being investigated as a homicide with the major case squad leading the inquiry.

At this point, there is no information on the age of the victim, nor do we have any information about a possible suspect or suspects. Authorities have also not released any details about a possible motive in the shooting.
