ST. LOUIS – Clear skies and light winds have allowed for a big drop in temperatures overnight Wednesday. Metro St. Louis has dropped into the upper 30s, but surrounding areas are colder, especially farther west into Missouri, where we’ve seen it drop to or below 32.

A frosty start for all Wednesday, with a freeze ongoing now in those more western communities and up north towards I-72 in Illinois. Temperatures will stay quite cold until 8 a.m., then we’ll start to warm up. Highs only near 60 with plenty of sunshine.

We’ll start to see a shift to a more southerly wind flow into Wednesday night. Another frosty night ahead, but a couple of degrees warmer than Wednesday morning.

We will start to gradually warm up Thursday and Friday. Highs will be back in the 70s by the weekend, and it won’t be as cold overnight.

Heads up, with how dry it has been and a bit of a breeze, fire danger will be higher Thursday and Friday. Weekend firepits are popular this time of year, so please be careful.
